Bem-Te-Vi Day Care Center / Creche Bem-Te-Vi

A Creche Bem-Te-Vi está localizada no bairro Jabaquara em São Paulo. A Creche atende crianças em idade pré-escolar e é mantida pela AMAS (Associação Metodista de Ação Social) da Igreja Metodista de Vila Mariana. Foi a primeira creche a receber mantas do Projeto Quadrados para Jesus (68 mantas). Aí estão as fotos da entrega das mantas e das lindas crianças que conhecemos lá.

Every week we have received about 40 squares, and our super sewing team, i.e. Gladys and Malvina keep the needles busy and hearts warm!

Toda semana nós recebemos cerca de 40 quadrados, e nossa super equipe de costura, Gladys e Malvina mantém as agulhas trabalhando e os corações aquecidos!
Up today there are 30 knitted and crochet blankets...I mean... 29, because we have donated one to this adorable little girl:

... her name is Rachel and she is 20 days old. Her mother, Rose, worked at the National Headquarters of the Methodist Church and is presently taking care of her baby.

We have challenged the Methodist Churches of Sao Paulo to send 348 squares or 8 48-square blankets to the National Headquarters up to May 31st! Soon we will have more pictures of squares and blankets to show!!

Back in October (pardon for the delay in posting this) we received a massive donation of wonderful squares. These came from England, and were made by a group who visited our office in Brazil and to whom I had the opportunity to talk about the project "Squares for Jesus". Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you...!!!

Em outubro (desculpe pela demora em postar) recebemos uma grande doação de lindos quadrados. Eles viram da Inglaterra e foram feitos por um grupo de pessoas que nos visitou no Brasil e com quem eu tive a oportunidade de falar sobre o projeto "Quadrados para Jesus". Revd. Tom Quenet and Christine Elliot (both from The Methodist Church in the United Kingdom) personally brought the squares as they stayed some days in São Paulo during the visit to some social projects of the Methodist Church in Brazil all over the country.

and in the first days of December we received these beautiful squares sent by the Knitting Group at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Cardiff, S. Wales.

We already have enough squares to produce four baby blankets (90 x 75 cm). Yesterday we arranged the best matches and here they are... ta da..!!

Já temos quadrados suficientes para fazer quatro mantas para bebê (90 x 75 cm). Ontem separamos os quadrados que mais combinam, e aqui estão eles... ta da...!

One with various shades of blue; one with shades of pink, and the other two in variagated colors.

Soon they will be sewn up and finally donated to one of our social projects.

Um em vários tons de azul, um em tons de rosa e os outros dois em cores variadas.

Logo eles serão costurados e finalmente poderão ser doados a um de nossos projetos sociais.

This beautiful square was knitted by Laura who lives in the Isle of Man and taught me a lesson of real commitment! It was only this morning when she first heard about Squares for Jesus and in the afternoon she brought me this beautiful piece (unfortunately the picture does not make justice).

This is how our project starts: you make a square (6 inches x 6 inches) and send it to us. This square will be sewn together with others and will form shawls, blankets, scarves and what else our imagination permits.

This is how our project becomes more interesting: everything we form with these squares will be donated to several social projects kept by the Methodist Church in Brazil. Projects that assist to street people, pregnant women, destitute elderly and children.

This is how our project becomes important: these shawls, blankets and scarves will warm the bodies and hearts of many people, and even if you don't realise, you will feel your heart warmed too. Squares for Jesus / Quadrados para Jesus

Are you enthusiastic about knitting or crocheting? Do you love spending your free time creating projects with varied kinds of yarn, colors, stiches and styles? Are you a creative and generous type? So... this is for you!

What:
Knit or crochet squares of 15 cm x 15 cm (6 inches x 6 inches). You can use any kind of yarn, color and stiches. Maybe give a purpose to that small quantities of yarn left in your stash. Anyway, you create the squares and send them to us. Here, we will sew them together to form shawls, scarves, blankets, etc.

Why:
These shawls, scarves and blankets will be sent to social projects of the Methodist Church in Brazil that work with street people, pregnant women, destitute children and elderly people.

Also:
If you can't knit/crochet, you can also participate by donating yarns, needles and hooks. Volunteer knitters and crocheters will make the squares using your donation.

Symbol:
This red heart square is the symbol of our project. Each piece will have one. There will be people exclusively knitting these red-heart squares and they will be sewn in each final piece.

Você é aficcionada por tricô ou crochê? Voce adora passar seu tempo livre criando projetos com diferentes tipos de fios, cores, pontos e estilos? Você é uma pessoa criativa e generosa? Então... isto é para você!

O que:
Faça em tricô ou em crochê quadrados de 15cm x 15cm. Você pode usar qualquer tipo de fio, de cor e de pontos. Quem sabe dar um destino para aqueles restos de lãs que voce tem em casa. Enfim, voce cria os quadrados e os envia para nós. Aqui nós vamos costurá-los para formar xales, cachecóis, mantas. etc.

Por que:
Esses xales, cachecóis e mantas serão enviados para os projetos sociais da Igreja Metodista do Brasil que trabalham com moradores de rua, mulheres grávidas, crianças e idosos carentes.

Tem mais:
Se você não sabe tricotar ou crochetar, também pode participar enviando lãs, fios, agulhas de tricô e de crochê. Tricoteiras e crocheteiras voluntárias farão os quadrados usando a sua doação.

Símbolo:

Este quadrado com um coração é o símbolo do nosso projeto. Cada peça terá um. Teremos pessoas exclusivamente para tricotar estes quadrados vermelhos, que serão costurados em cada peça.
